Mr. Mukesh Ambani,
son of Shri Dhirubhai Ambani, is a
chemical engineer from Mumbai University
and has pursued his MBA from Stanford
University, USA. He started his journey
with Reliance in 1981 and was responsible
for Reliance's backward integration
from textiles into polyester fibres
and further into petrochemicals, petroleum
refining and oil and gas exploration
and production.
Shri Mukesh Ambani has lead the conception
and development of several new world-class
manufacturing facilities involving
diverse technologies that raised
Reliance
's petrochemicals manufacturing capacities
from less than a million tonnes to
about twenty million tonnes per year.
Shri Mukesh D. Ambani is steering
Reliance
Group 's development of infrastructure
facilities and implementation of a
pan-India organized retail network
spanning multiple formats and supply
chain infrastructure.
Mr. Mukesh Ambani has set up one of
the largest and most complex information
and communications technology initiative
in the world in the form of Reliance
Infocomm Limited (now Reliance Communications
Limited). Mr. Mukesh Ambani also directed
the creation of the world's largest
grassroots petroleum refinery at Jamnagar,
India, with a current capacity of
660,000 barrels per day (33 million
tonnes per year) integrated with petrochemicals,
power generation, port and related
infrastructure.
Mr. Ambani believed, a "single
window solutions provider" was
necessary for all transportation,
distribution, warehousing, logistics,
and supply chain needs of Corporate
India to capitalize on India's transition
to a consumer economy through its
rapidly growing middle class.
So, he founded Reliance Logistics
(P) Limited in 2001-02 to assist Corporate
India in realizing their logistics
needs at an optimum cost.
